Remodeling sucks!

Friday, October 16, 2009

I had this bright idea a few weeks ago to knock out a wall and in turn make an extra bedroom. We don't have the money to add the addition my house so desperatly needed but for $200 I figured lets make a temporary 2 year solution until we can build the addition. I guess my dreams were far fetched when I thought it would be a weekend project. 3 weeks later I still only have a shell. Every couple days the guy comes back to put on some new "mud" on the drywall but it still is not nearly what it needs to be. My house is a chaotic mess. Not only am I going crazy but the children are now getting frustrated because the toy room is gone and they have no where to play. Ugh! I still have to get the dry wall finished, sanded, the painted, carpeted, and oh lets not forget about the door, which he forgot to put in. Im about to take a sledge hammer and knock it all down and consider this a sour project! I have no patience, ok I have some but its worn thin at the moment. I NEED MY HOUSE BACK!

New Idol Judge

Thursday, September 10, 2009

So I awake this morning get the kids off to the bus and turn on the PC while drinking my coffee (oh by the way the Chocolate Brownie Sundae creamer from International Delight is horrid) and I see the main story is the new idol judge has been named. Now although I think the person in the hot seat is very funny I do not see where her "musical talent" will come in to play as a judge. I could be wrong and she could be the best judge ever however, being it is a MUSIC talent show they should of replaced Paula with someone "MUSICALLY INCLINED"... But the new judge is no other than
Ellen Degeneres Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes Ms. Ellen herself. What do you think? Will she make a good judge for a music competetion?

School is back and I couldn't be happier

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

School officially started August 25th and I couldn't be happier! I have time now to do even more cleaning, more cooking, and more day dreaming! YAY! I have been working on making lesson plans for the younger two and they will officially start their "preschool year" next week. I hope to be able to share my ideas with everyone but I will most likely be posting them on another blog. If I do, I will certainly link you all to it! Well I am getting back into the swing of some portrait sessions however I will be taking a break and only doing family and friends. I want some time to get new equipment, new PC programs etc. Plus I need a little down time to catch up on me. I have neglected myself and need to get my mind back in order before I can focus on the big idea. Well hope all is well with all my friends! Talk to you soon!

Today is a sad day.

Sunday, August 23, 2009

This morning around 4:30am Scotts grandfather succomed to cancer. He was an amazingly strong individual who actually fought harder than anyone expected. They gave him less than a week Aug 1st and he fought to the bitter end. He died in peace in his home with grandmom by his side. They were married for 63 years. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Today is a very sad day.

An update on my friend Eric from the previous post, he has been improving well. They capped his trach to see if that will help him talk, they began weening him off the meds, and he is at the beginning stages of trying to eat on his own. He is still in ICU, he isnt out of the woods yet. His kidneys still have not regained function so he does dialysis daily at this point. He hasnt really talked that made sense so how much brain damage is still unknown at this point. But the great news is he does in fact recognize his son, so we are hoping that is a positive sign that he has no brain damage. We are praying that he continues with his recovery and gets to see his son's first football game as a senior.

The sun will shine again...

Friday, August 14, 2009

I went on vacation the beginning of August. I took my kids and my best friend and her three children. 7 kids 2 adults in a small trailer for a week! What was I thinking! The kids had a blast though and it was an exhausting trip. The first day my husband calls bearing bad news on his grandfather. He was diagnosed with cancer a while back but it has now consumed him. His time is limited. Within days I am sure. It is something really hard to deal with considering my husbands grandfather is his #1. He is his icon, his hero. This is tearing him apart. Then we get the news that his friends son was diagnosed with leukemia. An amazing 12 year old boy is fighting for his life. Then on top of that we get the news that a dear dear friend of ours flat lined during surgery and was in ICU on life support. He amazingly came out of his coma but he is still in very critical condition. I went to visit him today. To be honest it made it worse. Seeing him with all those tubes everywhere and no idea what is going on, he was severely sedated and also he was restrained to the bed because he is suffering ICU psychosis. I was watching his eyes rolling back and him trying to speak. But he has a trach so it makes it really hard. Looking at him made me think about all the great memories I had, It was so sad. I just wanted to rip it all away and take away the pain. How much can one person take? He is such a wonderful man. He was a former NFL player, currently head coach of high School football in the area, he even led them to the Championship last year. Tomorrow he was suppose to start the new season and he is layed up in the bed and no one knows if he will ever be the same. It is so unfair. I just wanted to hold him, but the nurses said to much attention makes him start to breath to hard, and begins to vomit through the trach. God to see someone you love, not just one but three fighting so hard for their lives. This year has really opened my eyes. I have been fortunate to not experience a lot of death around me. I mean my aunt died of cancer (it will be 6 years on the 31st) and my grandmother passed away shortly after. Life has a whole new meaning to me. I know death is always eminent but I tend to go on like nothing will ever happen to anyone I love. I need to step away from my bubble. Stop putting off telling those I care that I love them. I Hug my children a little tighter tonight, stop washing the dishes and go outside and play with them. Just because life can change in an instant. I don't want to regret what I haven't done. Maybe I am having a pity party for myself here I dont know.

Heres to you Big E.... Make a speedy recovery... Im pulling for you... You need to get back on that field lead your sons team to another championship! I love you!

whew!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Well chalk another one up for me - got Abies room all painted. We had a little issue at the paint store with the color so I had to have the salesman work her over on another color, so we ended up with this pale hot pink and got home started my project yesterday, well hubby comes into the room and within seconds steps into the paint can! who steps into a paint can? I would expect one of my foursome to do it but not the burly man. I started freaking out like crazy I run to grab some plastic trash bags and he is telling me to calm down. Calm down? You just spilled an ENTIRE gallon of paint on the CARPET! Seriously calm down? Then he starts getting all pissy cause he has paint on his foot? Oh geez sorry but you can shower I cant replace the carpet at the moment! AAAAGGGHHHH! Well any hoot I get it picked up, he showers and tries to scrub what he can out of the carpet. I now have pink carpet. If your an optomistic person than you can call it a bonus- I call it a major screw up. So I clean up for the night take the kids to the carnival down the road. We all know how much I lOVE carnivals (sense the sarcasm yet) Unlike last time I let the kids rape me of all my money for the games I made them take their allowance. Funny they didnt play one game since it was their money! HA! I got my son on that pirate boat that goes back and forth - well he almost splattered everyone with vomit. - note to self the child does not like heights. So we move to the gravitron (not good for me I had some alcoholic bevs brewing in the ol gut) But I took it for the team, he had a blast. My 6 year old wanted to do it next so I went for round 2 on the gravitron. If you dont know what it is - its the space ship looking thing that spins really fast and sucks you to the walls and the seats slide up and down. Well everthing was fine and dandy and the little devil in me came out, I reached up and pushed his seat up and I seriously think he crapped himself. Seriously. When we got out hubby had funnel cake and fried twinkies... Fried twinkies? Its a whole lotta heaven fried in a whole lotta grease - by God it was amazing... LOL Try it trust me you will love it. It was a great end to the day. But as for today the room has been painted in full pink. Off to the decor now!

Rough Week

Friday, July 17, 2009

What could go wrong this week probably has... I am thankful today is Friday. The events that have unfolded this week are crazy! Mostly minor stuff but seriously it was one of those "what could go wrong will go wrong" kind of things. A week full of stress! I should be sitting at my vacation spot at the moment instead I am enjoying the rain here in the NE. My AC went in my van - thus the only transportation for me and the kiddos so had to reschedule that. My 2 year old lovely son- broke practically everything insight. Started with my camera. Yeah the #2 thing I always have with me, He thought it would be fun to chuck it across the room - with the lens attached. Fun. Then he found my #1 - my Blackberry and that to met its fate along with my camera. Even though I was without my phone for less than 24 hours it seemed like an eternity. I have EVERYTHING on it and lost it all - Yeah didnt back up anything so taking this as a lesson learned and will back up my phone book as soon as I get numbers put back on it. I still have no cable because again loving son spilled gatorade all over the cable box and fried it - well drowned it. Back to the van my electronic mechanism that opens the doors automatically went out so that is a pain... We have been having some issues at the bars too so again more stress. Yikes!
Well among my misfortunes I found a great deal on craigslist for a table/chair set and hutch. Judging by the picture posted it looked like black wood so I didnt even ask the color, I drove the 30 miles to get it and it turns out that its green. GREEN! So does not work in my kitchen being I painted the cabinets a blue last year. But I saw the potential in it and I bought it... I was able to get 2 of the chairs painted today between the rainfall. I bought a killer fabric at the local shop so I will have one good looking set once I finish. I swear though sometimes I think I have adult ADD because I can never stay focused. I bounced back and forth between the table and my daughters room ( another work in progress). I am also redecorating her room in a fairy garden theme. I will post pictures as I go, but honestly have not gotten very far. Well enough self-pity - gonna work on some more stuff. And oh yeah I broke out my Billy Mays Slider Station today - not worth the money! I opened the top looked down and had patties like 1/2 inch big. It was rather funny they made the slider buns look like regular hamburger buns! HAHAHA!

Happy Birthday Max!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Today my little Max turns 6! Hooray! I feel bad because we are not doing a party, nor does he have presents today. We gave him his present early because he had his tonsils out, so his present came in handy (nintendo DSI). I am still getting use to getting back to norm.

Anyhoot yesterday what a day. It was a wonderful day to get in the pool so the kids and I got in, well apparently my dogs thought it was a good day to get out of the fence. While I was in the pool I see my dogs in the field behind my house, I tell my oldest to go get them, however he has a snorkel and flippers on, so not much help in the running down the yard area. I get out of the pool, get the little ones out as well since I wasnt in the pool and I take off to get the dogs, well first off I am in a bathing suit and sopping wet. Bailey my golden came right back in the fence, however the collie, Midnight not so much. (Background on Midnight, she was my hubbys dog prior to us being together and she hates me, she doesnt listen to anything I say so I knew I was in for it). So I am calmly trying to call her back and walk slowly to her, but she kept running further away, I am now at this point 2 houses away from mine - again in a swim suit looking like a beached whale. She begins to run. Fast. So I take off after her and she goes under someones shed. Im crying at this point, about to give up. Well I climb on the ground, half under the shed trying to get my dog out, Im sure the neighbors were wondering why there was a half naked woman under their shed. Well I get a hold of her collar and get her out. I begin to cross the yard with her, I am covered in dirt, and grass and realize my boob is hanging out, not only am I a beached whale but I am now a beached dirty stripping whale. Oh boy, the tears flow even more. I got the animal back into the house and needless to say I needed a very large alcoholic beverage. I call my husband crying and flipping out, not only about the dogs but the fact that I am streaking around the neighborhood. Thinking about it now its freaking hysterical but at the time It wasnt so great. Oh well.

Im back!

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Hey guys! I am back again, yup I know bad me... I have been so consumed by the benefit that I was putting together, that I lost touch. But the benefit is now over and I am just getting back to reality. My kids have been back and forth from VA the last couple weeks just for preparation for the benefit. Max got his tonsils out on the 2nd. That was not fun. The breath that comes along with that WOW. We had to go back to the ER because he became dehydrated but he is ALMOST back to the same Max. Apparently my kids have slept in every morning but since they have been home I have been bright eyes at 5 am cause they want to play... Not so happy....
Back to the benefit - we made over $9000 for the kids... Outstanding! The last thing I need to do is just write a list of those I know who donated so I can get some thank yous out. The only problem is I dont know who half the people are. We had a bunch of stuff just dropped off, and I feel horrible because I cannot personally thank them all. At any rate, Tina is back, yay! And just so your not confused that adorable little man at the top of the page, his name is Drew, he was one of the little kids the benefit was for...

Wow!

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Sorry been missing in action recently! The kids have been home from school and I have been super busy with photoshoots! It has been crazy hectic and the days are just flying by! I have been working hard at trying to raise money for the benefit that I created to help support two local children.

Monday the kids and I were finally able to spend the day with hubby. Scott has been working everyday for 6 weeks so it was really nice to have some family time. Nothing exciting is going on. My partner in crime a.k.a. my best friend has been on vacation so I haven't made any new cocktails (crying in the corner).

I am hiring a "husband"

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Currently taking applications for men with a strong ability for household duties. I need my roof fixed, the fence fixed, someone to crawl under the house to fix the ac unit, my oil changed, the skylights fixed, the pool vacuumed, the ladder put into the pool so we can use the damn thing, my car washed, my 2 acre fenced yard to be weed whacked. Shall I continue? My husband lord help him is pretty darn amazing. He loves me, loves the kids, but every since he has bought his 2nd business he has let everything go. Ok even before he owned the 2nd business none of the above has been done. I am getting agitated. I do not nag, I have "politely" reminded him several times of the things that need to be done , you know the "man" things. My Husband has never been good with "household" things or maintaining anything for that matter. If it breaks instead of trying to fix it, he just buys a new one. He hires people to do simple things ( minor electric work like hanging a fan ), he once tried to power wash the deck. He used the power washer for 10 minutes then quit and said he would just hire someone to do it. WTF? You serious? He asks for tools all the time... BWHAHAHHAHA I know how to use them better than him!
So I am now accepting applications for a "Husband for Hire"
However the qualifications are quite specific

1- you must know how to use tools (rather well)
2- you can use tools with your shirt off (much like the above picture)
3- you must be willing and eager to complete any mundane task (without shirt)
4- you must not care that I sip margaritas and watch you complete named tasks while sitting in the cabana that you built oogling at you with my friends
5- you must have a 6 pack and a tan
6- you must be willing to complete taks even if I am capable of doing it (just not willing too)

ok. ok. ok. I am kidding (but oh how that would be nice) But seriously the line has been crossed and I have become aggitated. I should tell him I will hold his Play Station 3 hostage (or I will hold the nooky back) until my said tasks are completed.

Happy Day!

Battle #673 That Poo Battles

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Not for the sqeamish*** Read with caution*****

I love my children. But there is a few things that I just wish I could opt out of. After four children I am sooo ready for Battle #673 to end. I call it "The Battle of Hand Full of Poo"

Seriously.

Every since Ry was around 3 months old his most favoritest thing ever is to put his hands down to make sure his weeny wang is still there. And he especially does it when he poos. And more than likely he will do it when he has the runs. I can guarentee that any time he poos I will have to fight the poo battle. I am a clean freak, I cannot stand dirty hands, thus is probably the only reason he does it! Let me explain as soon as the diaper comes off his hands are in his junk. I have to fully prepare before I change a diaper. I have to seperate the wipes, open up the new diaper. When the time comes I lay his stinky butt down - fully prepared that today i will win. He always flashes that sneaky smile as soon as I start to unbuckle the diaper, and then it begins. This morning I had to involve my feet. Yes my feet. I was trying to wipe the crap off he was fighting to just to grab some I had to use my feet into his armpits to hold him down. Seriously it is an all out battle. He is laughing, I am crying. So then I have to keep on him about not touching anything (like his face, other hand etc) just so he doesn't spread the poo. Really is poo that fun to play in? Or is just to torture me? I am serious every diaper I gotta fight this. And 9 times outta ten I don't win. I really hate changing diapers. Potty training couldn't come any sooner. My other 3 were not this feisty but Ry seriously wants to just be a pain in the arse.

Its a Girls Night Out with Washington Apple Shots

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Its Sunday again! Time for that happy hour drink! I chose today's drink because this was the signature shot last night on my girls night out! Its super fruity, super girly and super yummy! Who wouldn't enjoy it? You can make it into a cocktail too but today this is just the recipe for the shot! So when you have your next girls night out whether at the bar or a fun night in with the girls make sure you order a round for the girls!

Photobucket

What you will need:
1/3 oz Crown Royal® Canadian whisky
1/3 oz DeKuyper® Sour Apple Pucker schnapps
1/3 oz cranberry juice
1 splash of sour mix

Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker, give it a shake and then strain into a shot glass. The above is the amount for one shot so you obviously have to double, triple etc depending on the amount of shots.

**** Shot pouring tips *****
-invest in pourers for your bottles. It is easier to measure your alcohol.
-if you do not use a jigger ( I never have) I count in my head. (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississipi) This gives you an equal 1 oz shot. (hence each "Mississipi is 1/3 oz) Got it? Good!

Have fun on your next Girls Night Out, and remember always turn over the keys if you have had one too many!

And you wonder why I hate them...

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Carnivals of course. What else? I had this bright idea today to take the kiddos by myself to the carnival down the road from me. I must have been drinking to many tina-tinis to think this was a good idea. So we pack up and go to this "set up" they call a carnival. Get there at 6. By 6:15 I was raped of $40... My kids were sucked into 5 games. 5 games I tell you and $40 lost. So I decided to let them ride rides. Well at $18 a wrist band you can have yourself a nice time (on all 9 of the rides they have LOL). So with 4 kids thats $72 (ok so I wouldn't get the mutt one so thats $54 still not easy on the pocket.) So I decided to buy 25 tickets for $20... well each ride is either 3 to 4 tickets so that means they each get to ride 2 things at most. This stinks. (now I am $60 in the hole). So we decided to get some cotton candy (of course they all want there own bags $3 a pop there went $9) and then I wanted a funnel cake and some lemonade ($8).... After an hour of being at a stupid carnival I am out $77 and all I have to show for it is a goldfish, 2 "small prizes", 3 oversized bags of cotton candy, 4 sticky children, lemonade that spilled down the stroller, and a funnel cake that ended up on the ground once I got home. To make matters worse one of the only rides my daughter decided to get on was covered in oil or grease. Her hands were covered, she had it on her face and her poor poor new shirt covered. I am not a happy camper.

the face of a winner
But I did get this super funny picture of Abie. Face of a winner! Mama's bringing home a goldfish!

Photobucket
And this super cute moment. Sean decided to use his tickets to take Ry on the carousel... How frigging cute!

Put a check mark next to a carnvial on the "things to do with kids list" and pray to god my kids do not spot another one in the area until next year.

Mommy Meltdown

So two days ago I think I hit post partum 2 years to late... Ok so I have been really stressed recently, the new bar, lack of clients for my photography (which I am to blame because I haven't been pushing to get any new ones), my husband, the house, the kids, everything. I guess I was like a rubber band, everything has been building and building until I just snapped and went awhol. Sobbing hysterically I jumped into the van and started driving, no destination in mind just driving (kids were home with the hubby). I drove myself to the mental hospital convinced that my mommy brain went into overload and was crashing... I quickly realized that I was not crazy nor did I need a hospital. I just needed to vent, I needed to yell, I needed to cry and thrash around like a toddler not getting thier way. I needed to throw myself down to the ground and scream its not fair. Why is not fair? I dont know but my kids say it so much to me that it must be something you yell and scream when you are not getting your way! So I began the task of driving back home along a very peaceful backroad. I ended up driving by my house and continued driving another 40 miles in the rain until I ended up at a field much like the one above. Daisy's are my most favorite flower ever, so to come across a field FULL of them meant something. I turned sirius all the way up on a symphony channel rolled down my windows, jumped out of the car and began running into the meadow. There is where I had it. I began yelling, throwing rocks, threw myself down and began thrashing like a toddler(note to self, a field that has been rained on for a couple days is no good to throw yourself down in)... Then it happened. I stopped, I took a deep breath, felt the wind on my face, smelled the beautiful flowers, listened to the birds and then I smiled. What seemed like only minutes ended up being over an hour that I layed in this field, cold and wet but I felt at peace. I found solice. I was brought back to reality. I picked several dozen wild daisy's quietly got back into my car and drove home. I have felt rejuvinated since my little meltdown.
My little mommy moment as crazy as it sounds never felt so right. I don't know how many times in my life as a mother I have just felt the need to go run into the yard and start screaming.... I think I deserved this. And no I am not crazy, I am a mom. I am a wife. I am a friend, a daughter, a neice. I am not perfect. I am me. This is me.

The tina-tini

Monday, May 25, 2009

Photobucket

So I decided since well I love my alcohol that I would share some super yummy recipes! So every Sunday is happy hour here!

Let's kick it off with my personal recipe!

Tina - tini
1 oz - 3 Olives Berry Vodka
1.5 oz- Bacardi DragonBerry Rum
1.5 oz - Lemonade (Today I used pink lemonade)
splash of Sprite
Strawberry garnish

Shake first 3 ingredients, strain into a chilled martini glass. Hit it with a splash of sprite. Add garnish! Voila!

A super fruity summer drink just waiting for you to drink it while lounging at the pool!

I however tend to like my alcohol in volumes so I generally double this and just put it in a glass! Cheers!

Big Luscious T

I mentioned this briefly in my other blog but let me just tell you how amazingly talented this group of guys are! They played at the bar back in Novemeber of 2008 and I was hooked. Their talent surpasses any local band I have heard. Well ok so maybe Im blowing a little smoke but these guys kick some serious you know what! I have swooped them under my wing and try to promote them as much as possible just so the local area will see how great these guys are. They are a cover band but they also have some of their original stuff that they have yet to record. Seriously check out there myspace and listen to a couple of their tunes....
I think their adorable baby faces just help to make their shows that much more interesting! I cannot wait to see where these guys are in a year or two!Once they become big I better have full rights to backstage as well as be the bands official photographer (yeah ok now I am blowing smoke up my own!) But hey if they don't credit me when they are famous - then maybe I will have to punch them in their eye. LOL.... I love ya BLT!

Strawberry Picking

Friday, May 22, 2009

Photobucket
I decided a couple days ago that I am no longer going to be a planner - I have always been a planner and I always end up disappointed if things don't work out. So I decided to become impulsive (well as impulsive as a detailed-oriented person can be)and so far it has worked in my favor. As odd as it sounds it has made me feel like I actually have control instead of my schedule controlling me. So today I gave up the chance to go to the beach (which is all fine with me because I cannot stand sand, I despise it) and opted for the strawberry patch. It was so fun! I packed a lunch for the kids and I and off we went. It was quiet up there because not many people knew that the patch opened today. The kids got to ride on the Kiddy tractors, got to look at lots of pretty flowers then picked pounds and pounds of strawberries. Have yet to decide what to do with them all but I am sure I will come up with something! We had a blast! I didn't have my D300 with me but I did have the D40 the good ol stand by except I didn't have my good lens (so sometimes planning is a good thing)... I still got some pretty cool shots none the less. I decided not to shoot in RAW cause I was having a lazy day. But I did decide that I would go back up with the intentions of taking some pretty awesome pics! But I am not planning another trip, I will just go, when I need more strawberries! LOL.

Ry loved the tractors!
Photobucket

The big man took the long walk all by himself, he was proud of his strawberries, so much in fact he took a bite out of almost all of them before "throwing" them in the bucket, apparently the "Gentle Touches" rule doesn't apply to strawberries
